Day 1: Miami beach

Our flights went surprisingly fast. We had a quick change in Paris, and we got really nice seats on the back of the plane just for the two of us. What was even handier, we had our private storing compartment next to us by the window where we could get all our stuff. And Air France provided the best ever airplane dessert in the form of a chocolate cake.

The passport control / customs line was long as expected. However contrary to last time, there was no akward questions such as where do you work, do you like working there, why are you here etc. Perhaps the ESTA forms filled beforehand helped. Afther donating our fingerprints to the U.S. government we were ready.

We could not understand a lot from the taxi driver, but we ended up straight to our hotel in South Beach after seeing some nice scenery from Miami Downtown silhouette. (photos missing, as we still need to get the memory card -> iPad transfer stick thingie). We decided the best strategy to fight jet lag is to stay up until the night here, so we had a quick change of clothes and off to the beach. It was beautiful!

We walked alongside the beach severely overdressed (t- shirts and jeans) and saw a nice beach club with some live music. We ended up sitting there for few hours enjoying their signature mojito's. After paying we noticed it was the Ritz-Carlton hotel, which explains also the price. But it was really good :-) we continue walking to Lincoln road for some food, and ended up in a Cuban restaurant. The food was okayish. It started to be late for us (2 am) and 8 pm local time, and we headed back to the hotel. R still wanted to see watch if there's anything on TV, but after flipping ~80 channels through the answer was no :-)

We woke up to this scenery, and now we are waiting for the breakfast to start ( only at 8 am! ;-)
