Day 7: Memphis

We started the day on trying to find a place to get some breakfast but that was a bit harder than originally thought. Apparently we were also up a bit too early. We got a chance to witness a running competition ending on Beale street. That was an interesting contrast on the drinking-until-4am party street turning to a fitness center.

After T.G.I Friday's breakfast we did a walk along the Mississippi. We ended up to Mud Island that was actually really cool. It contained a replica of the lower Mississippi river with all its history. Enjoying a beautiful day relaxing by the river bank was not bad at all. We headed back for some blues & beer on Beale street before getting ready for a the b-day party. We also went to see the famous Peabody ducks. The ducks perform every morning and afternoon a red carpet walk in the hotel from the roof to the lobby and back again to the roof for the evening. We missed the actual walking, but witnessed a few angry ducks chasing each other in the fountain.

Rooftop party was nice low-key hanging qnd admiring sunsetand finding out about things from the locals. We got also many good advice for places to visit in the coming weeks, and of course lots of jealous comments about all the exciting things we still have ahead of us :)

The evening ended with some loud bangs. We went outside to see and there were fireworks on the sky just outside our motel. The fireworks were shot from a nearby stadium to celebrate some event for the tournament.
